The Pursuit of Peace and Balance

I feel there is a common goal in the human experience, which is to seek a state of Peace and Balance. The narrative that lives strongly in that pursuit is that it is often the next moment that will bring one to that state. Within that moment is something external that will be the thing that delivers it. Once I get through school, once I get married, once I own a house, once I have enough money, once I retire, and on and on. Then you die.
What I hear in those narratives is that once I get through the next hard thing or difficult moment is when Peace and Balance is achieved or found. What always has and always will happen is that you will be delivered another difficult moment or thing to overcome, or something that you have been taught you should pursue or have. So as long as the pursuit of peace and balance exists on this external spectrum, the loop will continue.
I feel the hard truth is that Peace and Balance is purely an internal journey to embark on. I use the term hard truth because to live on the inside of self can feel daunting and overwhelming to some. There is a lot going on inside the self, that is where all our stories and emotional experiences are stored and ready to be accessed. That can feel like a daunting place to tap into.
So how does one then come to a place of peace and balance? It come through the portal of acceptance. Acceptance of those very things mentioned above. Accepting that on the external spectrum there will always be something else to attain, obtain and seek if that is what we prescribe to. Then accepting that going inwards and examining self from an emotional perspective and learning about our true self is imperative for the journey to peace. Once you know who your are and what you are, the external seeking tends to matter less. That is where Peace and Balance lies.
